Specializing in collaborative works for theatre and dance, Paula D. Davis taught costume design and history of dress at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. She was a Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble Affiliate Artist, where she designed for the world premiere of Gunpowder Joe, a new play by Anthony Clarvoe about Joseph Priestley.

Paula has also conducted extensive research examining folk dress traditions in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. She has presented at the Cloth Cultures Conference in Toronto, Dressing Global Bodies Conference in Edmonton, International Conference of Dress Historians in London, Costume Society of America, University of Skopje in Macedonia, Congress on Research in Dance, American Theatre in Higher Education, United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In addition to her costume designs for theatre, dance, and opera productions at Bucknell, Paula has designed for Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble; The Fisher Ensemble; Idaho Shakespeare Festival; Phoenix Theatre; Actor’s Theatre of Phoenix; Arizona State University; and choreographers in Philadelphia, Boston, New York, and Taiwan.

Paula received her BFA in Costume Design from California Institute of the Arts and MFA in Scenography from Arizona State University.
